Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex visited St Paul’s hostel on Thursday 9 November as part of a visit to the county.

The Countess wanted to visit to find out more about the work St Paul’s undertakes and hear about their trauma-informed approach that connects a homeless persons often numerous Adverse Childhood Experiences with their current behaviour and situation.

During her visit she met many beneficiaries of the charity, former and current Trustees and staff. She spent time talking to beneficiaries, hearing their stories and was able to speak to the many partners from business and charities who are able to work with St Paul’s and help them achieve their mission; to help people through homelessness. St Paul’s Creative Group performed poetry with Claire Badsey, known as the Poet with Passion, impressing the Countess with her humour and style balanced by reflective and hard hitting readings by Michael and Ray.

Chair of Trustees, Claire Bridges said “We are delighted Her Royal Highness wants to visit the homeless of the City and understand the work of St Paul’s. This was a very special day in our 40th year”.

High tea was prepared by Gregg Dobson, Filip and Karen who had started at 6 am to get everything prepared. Sponge cakes and macrons were hand-made along with Goats cheese crostini, Chocolate tart, profiteroles chocolate sauce along with Tea, Coffee, Elderflower cordial and Traditional lemonade or Black current.
