What export documentation certificates do we provide?

Certificates of origin & authentication

Certificates of Origin are international trade documents that show the origin of exported goods.  They are completed by exporters and are certified by a Chamber of Commerce.

There are two types of Certificates of Origin, United Kingdom Certificates of Origin which are accepted by most countries around the world and Arab-British Certificate of Origin which are used when dealing with Arab League nations.

When and why do I need it?

Not every country has a Certificate of Origin requirement but for those that do, one will be required to get your goods cleared through overseas customs and to your customer.  Even when you are dealing with a country that does not require them, they may be necessary for you to get paid if you are dealing with a Letter of Credit.

How can I apply for a Certificate of Origin?

Online application

You can apply using our online service, Ecert.

Express service: Allows you to print out in your office on blank Certificates of Origin typically within 2 hours of applying.

Standard Service: Apply before 2pm to get your document processed the same day. Collection or post available.

Arab British certification and legalisation

UK An Arab-British Certificate of Origin is a Customs clearance requirement in some countries to evidence the origin of the goods. It may also be requested by the importing company. Arab Certificates of Origin may be used for Arab League States as shown below:

Where Can I Get An Arab-British Certificate Of Origin?

ATA Carnets service

What is an ATA Carnet?

An ATA Carnet is an international Customs document that operates like a passport for your goods.  It allows the temporary importation of goods in to countries that are part of the ATA Carnet system and avoids you having to pay unnecessary taxes or duties.

ATA Carnets cover all goods that are leaving the UK and returning within a 12 month period.  They do not cover disposable goods that will be used while out of the country or items that will not be returning to the UK.

When and why do I need it?

If your goods are going outside of the UK and into one of the 40+ countries that accepts ATA Carnets and you are going for one of the following reasons:

  • You are exhibiting at an International Trade Fair/Exhibition
  • You are taking Commercial Samples with you to business meetings to try and generate business
  • Your goods are going out for Professional Equipment purposes to perform their function or to undergo testing

If this applies to you, you should be using an ATA Carnet. The ATA Carnet simplifies the customs procedure into a single document and makes the importation process much quicker and easier to handle.

How can I apply for an ATA Carnet?

Online application

All carnets are applied for via our electronic service, Ecert and processed here at the Chamber within two hours.

Standard Service: Apply by 1pm to get your carnet processed and posted out to you for next day delivery/ready for same day collection.

UK EUR1

Why do I need a UK EUR1 certificate?

A UK EUR1, also known as a ‘movement certificate’, enables importers in certain countries to import goods at a reduced or nil rate of import duty under trade agreements between the UK and partner countries.

How do I apply for a certificate?

Letter of credit service

The most frequent form of payment in international trade. A documentary letter of credit is a contract under which a bank agrees to pay the seller, in connection with the export of specific goods, against the presentation of specified documents relating to those goods.

Pass your Letter of Credit to us and let our comprehensive and professional service take over:

  • Your credit will be checked to ensure the conditions can be met
  • We liaise with the freight forwarder/shipping company and ensure the transport documents are issued correctly.
  • The remaining documents are prepared and presented to the bank on your behalf.
