Emma Heathcote-James, founder and CEO of Broadway based Little Soap Company was invited to speak at the European Commission in Brussels earlier this week.

The UK’s National Enterprise Research Centre (ERC) lead the session for the Regional Studies Association, chaired by Professor Mark Hart, Deputy Director of the UK’s national Enterprise Research Centre (ERC) and focussed on the role of micro-enterprise in stimulating job creation and innovation at local, regional and national levels. Looking at the latest research and policy developments Emma was invited to speak about the gritty reality of being a micro-entrepreneur and share the ups and downs of her journey from being a one woman band to now employing eight staff.

As Emma said "It was an amazing experience and fantastic to be given a voice in something so important - small businesses play a huge role in job creation with micro businesses comprising of just under 90% of all UK employer businesses".

Little Soap Company started in 2008 hand making organic soap and was taken on by the UKs leading supermarkets becoming the first organic soap bar on their shelves. A new exclusive range of 9 lines will launch this week in Waitrose nationally and the company is thrilled to be expanding into Holland and Barrett nationally too as of 2016.
