Wellbeing Wednesday at Morgan Motor Company

Wellbeing Wednesday is a new initiative recently launched at the Morgan Motor Company from an idea generated during a Mental Health First Aid training session.

Each Wednesday employees are sent a newsletter by email with content focused on health and wellbeing. The content is chosen to reflect what’s happening in the world, for example highlighting the benefits of team sports during the 2020 Euros, and to support specific campaigns such as Men’s Health Week or Cycle to Work Day.

The newsletter is backed up with physical action too whenever possible. For instance, the team organised an ice-cream van to come on site during the recent heatwave when they focused on holiday health. Free ice-cream at lunchtime went down a treat as you can imagine!

Other actions include setting up a staff book exchange to encourage more reading, providing additional outdoor seating for staff to use at break times and a monthly draw to win a wellbeing/self-care goody bag.

The biggest opportunity it brings though is to continually chip away at any remaining stigma there may be surrounding mental health issues. Morgan Motor Company are having many different sorts of conversations now and levels of awareness amongst staff have definitely improved.
