Walk Worcestershire’s waterways for hospice care

Walkers, nature lovers and hospice supporters are being invited to stride out on the St Richard’s Hospice Waterways Walk this summer. Rather than take part on a single day, walkers can choose an 11 or 22-mile route on any day in July or August.

Kelly Johns, hospice fundraiser, said: “Our Waterways Walk is a hugely popular event, and has raised a significant amount towards the free care we provide to people across Worcestershire. Holding the event across July and August means our supporters can still enjoy a wonderful walk locally for our care – just not all at once!”

Ms Johns added, “There’s the added bonus that walkers may spot some of the Worcester’s Big Parade elephant sculptures along the way following the launch of the art trail – which is raising funds for St Richard’s – on 12th July.”
“In this format, registration is free and walkers can choose one of two routes, a date and time to take part to suit them, and we’ll provide directions and a map. We also ask that people gain as much as they can in sponsorship to ensure we can continue to be there for patients and their loved ones when they need us most.”

Walkers will stroll along the River Severn and the Worcester-Birmingham Canal. They can start at The Anchor in Diglis, Worcester or at the Droitwich Rugby Club. Choose from either an 11-mile one-way route or a 22-mile round walk.
