Virtual Economic conference to discuss business challenges and outline key focus areas

The previously named and extremely popular Chamber Manifesto Launch Event is back with a new name to go with a virtual theme. The Economic Conference, sponsored by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise (WLEP) takes place on Tuesday 16 March and will give attendees a chance to be a part of the exclusive release of the Chamber Business Manifesto for 20/21, which outlines key areas of focus for the Chamber using data collected from businesses across the region.

The event will see key experts providing essential advice and delivering an update on the business environment. Speakers include; WLEP Chief Executive Gary Woodman, British Chambers of Commerce Director of Policy James Martin who will be giving a brief picture of the national economy, Worcester Bosch CEO Carl Arntzen and finally, a senior economist from NatWest will be discussing the current and future economic picture in line with the Chancellor’s Budget announcement.

As companies are finalising business plans and budgets, this online event will be a great opportunity to hear what other businesses consider key concerns for the year as well as barriers to growth that organisations are faced with and how some have navigated these issues. The Business Manifesto then collates this data and outlines the Chambers policy position and the areas its policy, support and lobbying efforts will be focussed around.

This online event will also bring together representatives from across our business community who will signpost support, outline existing projects and look ahead.

The British Chambers of Commerce, The Worcestershire LEP, Chamber Patrons, Worcester Bosch and Strategic Members NatWest will all be contributing, and a panel discussion will endorse the Chambers Manifesto priorities of Costs to Business, Skills, International Trade, Technology, and Sustainability.

Commenting on the Business Manifesto as well as the Economic Conference, Sharon Smith, Chief Executive of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Said: “Delivering such an in-depth programme of consultation that is the Manifesto not only allows us to state with confidence which challenges and opportunities businesses currently face, but it also enables the Chamber to identify potential barriers to growth and opportunities for business on the horizon.”

“The Economic Conference will be a great opportunity to outline the key areas of focus for the Chamber for the coming year and will give businesses an insight as to what key barriers to growth that others are faced with and how they can expect to be supported over the next 12 months.”
