The Big Sleep In

The Cart Shed have always known being in the natural environment is good for us, which is why they work outdoors year-round whatever the weather. The team provide tailored therapeutic support in Herefordshire woodland; helping those experiencing an imbalance in their lives to heal, learn new skills, find friendship and a future. During the last year many of us have discovered how important it is to tune-in to and value our world – whether that’s hiking a mountain or simply noticing the change in the seasons from your window.

What is The Big Sleep In?

We all know a good night’s sleep is good for our mental health, so throughout May The Cart Shed is asking you to get some kip and help raise money to support young people and adults in Herefordshire with their mental health. One of their trustees, Bill Jackson has nearly raised his target of £2,500 by sleeping rough in the doorway of Jackson Property’s King Street office. Plus, at the end of the month Herefordshire’s High Sheriff is taking part (along with 5 other High Sheriffs) by sleeping in her apple orchard.

Where could you sleep?

It’s up to you but here are a few ideas to get you going:

  • Build a blanket fort
  • Pitch a tent in your garden
  • Hold a virtual sleep over
  • Sleep in your school clothes or fancy dress
  • Maybe even have a nap in the bath or your dog’s bed!

Make sure you are safe and that someone knows where you are and what you are planning.

How to get involved

Once you’ve found somewhere fun and exciting to sleep for a night this May:

  • Ask your friends and family to sponsor you via the Virgin Money Giving page
  • Follow them on Facebook @thecartshedherefordshire
  • Share your photos online using #TheBigSleepIn to see who finds the most creative place to kip

Most importantly get a good night’s sleep and wake up feeling great knowing you’ve helped the charity and your own mental health!
