Sustainable packaging company celebrate award win and local composting plans

Worcester-based sustainable food packaging company, BioPak, has won an award for the ‘Best Food Service & Catering Packaging’ at LUXlife magazine’s seventh annual Hospitality Awards.

Leanne Osborne, Managing Director at BioPak, said: “There are 28 cafes and restaurants in Worcestershire that currently use our products for their takeaway options, you’ve probably drank from one of our coffee cups without even realising it!”

“We always appreciate recognition for our team’s hard work, but our driving force is the belief that the whole country can adapt to new business and consumer habits where end-of-life waste doesn’t just end up in landfill.”

Sam Walker, Technical Director at BioPak, who was a guest speaker at this year’s Worcester’s Sustainability Summit, said: “We’re delighted that our innovative packaging has won yet another award and we’re now in talks with local organisations to look at the best ways we can invest and expand our composting initiatives throughout Worcestershire and beyond.”

“It’s a work in progress with many challenges, such as building public awareness and infrastructure, but we’re as determined as ever to make positive change for the benefit of our planet – and that starts on our doorstep.”

Founded in 2002, BioPak, with offices and a distribution warehouse at Nunnery Park, offer compostable packaging made from raw plant-based materials, such as bagasse, a by-product of sugar cane harvesting.
