There’s still time to nominate exceptional graduates for the University of Worcester’s first-ever Alumni Awards, as entries continue to highlight the remarkable impact of its alumni.
The awards, spanning 10 categories, will celebrate graduates who are making a meaningful difference in their professions, communities, and beyond.
Ann Jordan MBE, Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Worcester, said the quality and variety of the nominations has already been striking.
“We’ve been genuinely inspired by the stories coming through,” she said. “They capture the many ways our graduates are making a difference, whether that’s close to home or on a much wider stage.”
Ann added: “What’s particularly rewarding is seeing nominations for people at every stage of their journey, from recent graduates already making their mark, to those whose contribution has grown over many years into something extraordinary.”
The categories include Lifetime Achievement, Social Impact in Education and Healthcare, Outstanding Sportsperson, Local Community Impact, Innovation in Career, Sustainability, and the Worcester Spirit Award.
Sian Gould, Head of Alumni and Development, said the nominations had offered insight into the achievements of Worcester graduates.
“Reading the nominations really brings these individual stories to life,” she said. “We know the University prepares people for careers that matter, but this shows the real, human impact behind that, and the difference one person can make.”
The University now graduates around 1,000 health professionals every year who go on to work in the NHS and other health settings, along with around 500 teachers for the nation’s classrooms.
Sian Gould said: “One nomination spoke of a graduate whose idea for change in a healthcare setting has made a positive difference to tens of thousands of patients, another champions a former student who now works to break down barriers that some people have to getting an education.”
“And it’s just inspiring to see alumni who’ve built successful careers in areas including the arts and business,” she added. “They’re using the skills and connections they developed at Worcester to create opportunities for themselves and those around them.”
Nominations close on Tuesday 7 July, with winners set to be announced at a special awards celebration in September.
