Rural businesses to benefit from new government grant

Rural businesses from across the UK will benefit from new government funding of £35 million to help support in the creation of new jobs, boosting tourism and unlocking business growth in more rural areas.

The current Growth Programme, which opened for expressions of interest on Monday 4 November, will provide grants for rural start ups and businesses to purchase new equipment and machinery to help with expansion.

The scheme has already granted £99 million to over 500 businesses across England – creating more than 3,771 new jobs in rural areas.

For the new round of funding, the threshold for minimum grants has come down from £35,000 to £20,000 meaning that more small or micro-businesses can be eligible for a grant for their projects.
