Phoneworcs new initiative to support local children’s cancer charity

The Phoneworcs team have recently launched a new GKCCT broadband switch initiative to help increase their support for the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.

Switch your business broadband to Phoneworcs and quote GKCCT and they will donate 10% of your broadband fee to the charity for the life of the contract so not only will you have a great telecoms team on hand supporting you but you will also be donating to the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust and helping them in their battle against childhood cancer.

Phoneworcs provide business telecoms services such as broadband, phone systems and mobiles.

Based in Worcester the team love supporting local businesses by providing fantastic service at an affordable price without locking them in to long term contracts or lease agreements.

As an independent specialist business grade broadband provider Phoneworcs data networks are not overloaded with residential traffic like BT or Plusnet bringing their customers significantly better and more resilient business broadband.

Emma Williams, Office and Project Manager from the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust comments: “we are extremely grateful to Sandy and Ami at Phoneworcs for all that they do to support the charity.  Not only are they the charity broadband and office telephone supplier they are also massive supporters of all that we do, getting involved as much as they can which is just amazing”.

Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust

About Us

The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust was set up in memory of Grace, who passed away at the age of 4, from a rare form of childhood cancer. Grace left behind a wish to help other children. Through her legacy (and now the legacy of a number of other children too), we are working to support so many other children. We are dedicated to fighting childhood cancer, the biggest medical cause of death of children in the UK.

The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust is a small but growing charity with much of its work central to Worcestershire. We were founded in 2016 in Worcestershire, Grace’s hometown, and it is here that we remain based. We do carry out national work too in terms of awareness and funding research, but we are dedicated to helping support our local children with cancer too.

Childhood cancer is not as rare as many may think. It affects 1 in every 500 children before the age of 15. This is why we are working so hard.

Our future plans

We plan to work harder than ever so we can reach and help even more children local children.

We have recently expanded our support (financial and emotional) for local families to include Herefordshire as well as Worcestershire. This is already proving a success. In time, we would like to be able to roll this out to Gloucestershire as well because these families are also very much in need.

Our other major local project is that of our AV1 robots. We have been fundraising hard and are delighted that we have recently been awarded some funding which will enable us to purchase several robots that can be used for children locally. Many of these children experience intense isolation for months on end as a result of treatment for cancer. The funds to purchase the machines are now in place but now we are working hard on fundraising to cover running costs and another member of staff to run the scheme.

In addition to the financial support that we provide to families, the charity also gives emotional support to families that are struggling. We are also aware of other funding pots that sometimes these families may qualify for in times of financial hardship and we take the time to help them apply for these as well. Often, being a listening ear can mean so much to a family during tough times.

Our early diagnosis and awareness card scheme remains running throughout Worcestershire. We aim to cover each school in the region at least every two years to ensure new intakes receive this vital information. As you can see before, over 700,000 cards have gone out but there is so much more to do. Ideally the charity would like to be able to fund increased staffing hours to carry out this work to mean that we reach even more children in the future.

How funds raised could help the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust

Money raised could be used to help support our AV1 scheme, provide vital support grants for families, pay for awareness card printing or enable increased staffing hours to ensure that we can reach more schools with our awareness cards. All of these are vitally important.

Unfortunately, the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust receives no statutory funding and so we rely on donations and grants that we can apply for. The majority of our work is therefore funded by our fantastic fundraisers who are helping us to make a difference in the lives of children fighting cancer.

We are always on the look-out for volunteers, fundraisers, business support and people to help spread the word about our work. Thank you so much for your interest in the charity. You can read more on our website www.gkcct.org.
