Although Simplyseedz didn’t receive investment, it proved a valuable opportunity for the small business.

“We’ve had over £5000 worth of orders since the episode aired, had huge social media and SEO growth, and have been approached by other investors,” says Cathryn Zielinski, founder of Simplyseedz

Simplyseedz appeared on Dragons’ Den on Boxing Day, 26th December 2017 at 9 pm on BBC Two. Cathryn Zielinski, the founder of Simplyseedz, was joined by her business partner, Paul Lawson. After being questioned intensively by the Dragons, they did not receive investment for their vegan-friendly porridge and baked pumpkin seed snack pots.
 
However, the exposure that the TV show provided Simplyseedz with proved incredibly valuable. With more orders than ever before, more traffic to the website on the two weeks after the show than in the last year and with a great deal of support from professionals and investors offered, Simplyseedz are in a great position.
 
Investment from a Dragon would have been amazing and grown our business immensely, but looking back on the opportunity we still gained a great deal; exposure, so many new customers, great words of advice and constructive criticism,” says Cathryn.
 
Since the show, Simplyseedz has taken on board all the Dragons’ feedback; Cathryn has started looking at SEO support, they have launched a new Plain Porridge recipe in response to a Dragon’s feedback and have invested in new tamper strips for the porridge pots after a Dragon commented on their over-exuberant strength.
