Majority of businesses not prepared for transition to Net Zero

Results released from a new survey, conducted by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), showed that 9 out of 10 businesses have not done any assessment on a series of key strategies for managing a sustainable transition to net zero. The survey was completed by over 1000 businesses.

Reaching net zero by 2050 will be an extremely challenging journey but also a necessary one. In that journey it is important smaller businesses do not get left behind in the face of a green industrial revolution. Statistics like the one found in the BCC survey will be vital pieces of information for government leading up to 2050.

Many businesses are reporting a lack of detail in certain areas of a green transition. How will businesses be supported in the switch from gas boilers? When will electric charging points become more accessible? What impact will sustainability have on supply chains? These are all questions businesses need answering before having the confidence to adapt their operations to be more sustainable.

The latest Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Economic Survey will include a focus on sustainability and pose the question, what would help your business take further action in reducing your environmental impact. This information will be vital and when the subsequent report is released it will go towards informing key decision makers and shape future business support.
