Luctonians Sports Club investing in the future of Herefordshire’s young people

Luctonians Sports Club is continuing to invest in the next generation across Herefordshire, having engaged more than 20,000 children through its schools’ outreach programme and raised over £250,000 for local charities since 1992.

Today, the club is home to more than 1,300 members and has built a reputation for creating opportunities for young people to develop confidence, skills and a sense of purpose through sport. Founded in 1948, Luctonians has long been part of the local community, but its focus remains firmly on the future.

This “club-first” approach ensures strong links between senior teams and youth development, with many players progressing through the ranks into premiership and national rugby. This pathway supports performance while building loyalty and aspiration alongside long-term development from an early age.

Alongside rugby, the club offers cricket, cycling, rounders and netball, with a growing women’s and girls’ section widening access to sport and encouraging more young people to get involved.

Mike Forrester, Chair, said: “At one of our school sessions, a father shared that his daughter had rediscovered joy through sport after two very difficult years. That’s what this club is about. Rugby won’t solve everything, but it can make a real difference to people’s lives.”
