King’s School celebrates plans to open new city centre nursery

Children at King’s St Alban’s in Worcester city centre are celebrating the news that a brand new nursery facility will be opening on site this September to cater for children aged two to four. Once open, King’s School will offer education from age two through to 18, all on the same interlinked city centre campus.

Work has already started on the brand-new nursery, which will be housed within two large rooms in the existing ultra-modern Pre-Prep school site. The purpose-designed facility will allow children to flow freely across a bright and airy indoor-outdoor environment. The space provides an oasis of calm and tranquillity within the busy city centre, just a stone’s throw from Worcester Cathedral and newly developed Cathedral Plaza.

Inside the nursery, space will be divided into age-specific play areas, including a quiet rest zone, with removable partitions to provide the flexibility for a wide variety of activities and scenarios. The nursery will encourage outdoor play as much as possible and along with the outdoor learning garden equipped with a wide range of play equipment, the nursery will also benefit from the existing established Forest School area. The children will also have access to the facilities within the Pre-Prep department, a stunning multi-purpose hall and an Early Years library.

The nursery will provide an exciting and stimulating curriculum giving the children the best possible start to their educational journey within our happy, calm and nurturing Pre-Prep department. Children will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities including P.E, dance, Forest School, music and languages throughout the year, all taught by specialist staff. Activities will be planned around the children’s individual interests and needs, enabling every child to be actively learning and developing in these important and exciting first stages of their time at school.

Louise Thorp, Reception teacher at King’s St Alban’s said:
“The happiness of our children is our passion at King’s St Alban’s and we are extremely excited to welcome pre-school children to our family. By starting the King’s School journey at two years old, children will have the advantage of knowing the school, the staff and their friends before they make the move into Reception class.”

The new facility will be part of the King’s School Foundation, operating under the leadership of Headmaster Richard Chapman and the Early Years Foundation Stage teaching team. The nursery will be run by an experienced manager who will work closely with warm, nurturing and supportive nursery staff to ensure that children are happy, confident and able to thrive.

The nursery at King’s St Alban’s will be the second nursery to operate under the King’s umbrella of schools, working alongside the well-established and successful nursery at King’s Hawford. This will allow King’s to offer parents the choice of two nurseries, one in the city centre, and one in a rural location on the outskirts of the city centre.

If you are interested in finding out more about the nursery, please feel free to come along to the King’s St Alban’s toddler group which takes place on term time Tuesday mornings at 9.30am.
