Kidderminster College Skills Bootcamp Helps Martin Iliffie Launch New Career in Health & Social Care

After years of caring for family members, Martin Iliffie decided to turn his personal experience into a professional career. Thanks to the Health & Social Care Careers Bootcamp at Kidderminster College, Martin now works as part of Worcestershire County Council’s care team. He credits the bootcamp with giving him the skills and confidence he needed to make this transition.

“The bootcamp gave me a good understanding of the Health & Social Care sector,” Martin shared, adding that the expertise of the tutors was essential to his success. “Their specialist knowledge made me feel confident in the workplace.”

One of the key components of the course was interview preparation, which Martin found invaluable. “We had mock interviews, and they really helped settle my nerves for the real thing. The college even arranged an interview for me, which ultimately led to my current role.”

Since completing the course, Martin has thrived in his new position, using the skills he developed to remain calm in challenging situations. He encourages others to follow in his footsteps: “The course motivated me to strive for more in my career. It’s had a positive impact on my professional and personal life. I’d recommend anyone considering a career in Health & Social Care to enrol.”
