Hereford Mayor helps judge Best Christmas Shop Window 2019

The winners of the Hereford Business Improvement District Best Christmas Shop Window Competition 2019, were recognised by the Mayor at the Town Hall in Hereford.

With a fantastic response of over 20 businesses taking part this year and on Monday 16 December the public votes were collated to produce a list of the Top 6 Best Dressed Christmas Windows consisting of the 3 ‘Top Independent Businesses’ and 3 ‘Top National Businesses’. A panel of judges comprising of The Right Worshipful Mayor of Hereford, Kath Hey, Steven Haines, Programme Lead for the Innovation Studios at NMiTE and Elizabeth Hardman, Account Executive, Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. The window displays were then judged based on the following categories to give an overall score out of 20:

  • Creativity / Overall Concept
  • Presentation of Frontage and Surround
  • Fun / Inspirational
  • General Christmas-ness

Scoring was incredibly tight and entrants amazing in their effort and capturing the public’s imagination. After much deliberation the winners are as follows:

Best Dressed Independent Christmas Window
First Place – Sarah Jane’s Joy of Flowers, King Street
Runner Up – Luna Gifts, Commercial Street
Runner Up – The Spread Eagle – King Street

Best Dressed National Christmas Window
First Place – Pandora, Old Market Hereford
Runner Up – RSPCA Hereford Branch, Broad Street
Runner Up – The Entertainer – Commercial Street

The National Retail winners were invited to the Mayor’s office on Wednesday 8 January for a small presentation, with the Mayor visiting the Independent Retail winners on Tuesday 14 to personally present their awards.
