Gtech providing life saving support to NHS

After government appeals for top engineering companies to help in making life saving ventilators to support the NHS, brands such as McClaren, Nissan and Chamber Members Gtech were there to answer their calls for help.

Nick Grey, Gtech Founder and Chief Executive, was phoned by the government’s chief commercial officer in the early hours of Sunday. He said: “He said: “At first I thought it was a hoax – being asked if I could assist in making up to 30,000 medical ventilators in as little as two weeks.”

“When I realised this was a genuine need, I felt compelled to help. We designed a ventilator entirely from parts that can readily be made from stock materials or bought off-the-shelf. This means if Government approves, they can be made by almost any engineering and manufacturing firm. We could produce around 100 per day within a week or two.”

Ventilators help overcome the severe breathing difficulties caused as a result of Covid-19.

The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock said the new models could be in hospitals in a matter of days.

The government is looking for businesses who can support in the supply of ventilators and ventilator components across the UK as part of our response to coronavirus. For further information and if you think your business can help please visit the government website here.

If your business is doing something to help during this period, please do get in touch as we would love to share this with our Members.
