West Midlands based IT Managed Services provider EBC Group has supported the provision of IT equipment to Worcestershire Acute NHS Hospitals Trust in order to help COVID-19 patients that are in isolation keep in contact with their loved ones.
The donation of 40 iPads was in response to the emergency appeal set up by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity, which will be fully configured and supported by EBC Group’s technical team to give patients secure access to Virtual Visiting video software so they can easily keep in touch with family and friends.
Natalie Hart, Ward Manager Avon 3 in Worcestershire Royal Hospital said: “I can’t thank you all enough for arranging this, the iPads have made a massive difference to the mood of the patients that are currently suffering from COVID-19 on Avon 3. One patient in particular, a gentleman who in the start of the week was very unwell and very confused, simply through suffering from the complications of COVID. We decided to see if he would like to speak to his wife, who was sending in letters and pictures, so for us to show him, the change in him was incredible. It was obviously an emotional reunion, but this morning the patient was in a good mood, had a good sleep and is now talking to his wife on Skype through the donated iPads again, it’s nice to hear them talking and laughing”.

We hope this donation will bring some comfort to patients in hospital who are missing their loved ones.”

The impact of the donation of iPads is making a huge difference to wellbeing and recovery of our patients on our COVID wards through helping to keep families together.”
