Hybrid events are not new, but in the same way virtual became the go-to solution in 2020, the hybrid communication model comes to the fore in 2021.

Combining a real-life audience with a virtual audience, they have clear benefits such as greater sustainability, extended and unlimited global reach, personalisation of content, and the relative ease of including speakers who are unable to travel to the physical meeting location at the same time.

However, holding the remote participants’ attention is another story. How can event planners translate the physical ‘I was there’ excitement of an in-person event into a digital format?
