Calls for transparency in ongoing prorogation dispute

On Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister’s suspension of the UK parliament was found to be unlawful by a panel of three judges at the Court of Session.

The ruling overturned an earlier decision made from the court last week which found Mr Johnson had not broken the law. The prorogation will continue until the full hearing takes place at the Supreme Court on Tuesday next week.

As the next step in the ongoing political turmoil refuses to bring with it any clarity for businesses, new research from the British Chambers of Commerce shows that a high number of UK firms aren’t prepared for a no deal Brexit.

The Chamber Network is hearing from businesses that they do not want a messy and disorderly Brexit, but the ongoing uncertainty means that they must be ready for all possibilities as the October deadline looms.

Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce works closely with both local and national government to ensure that businesses’ concerns are heard and where possible, acted upon.

To identify the top concerns that businesses in the region are facing, the Chamber is currently asking for local firms to complete the Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) for quarter 3 2019.

The 90-second survey will ensure that your business’ priorities are listened to, and allows the Chamber to create its policy strategy in line with what is important for business growth and sustainability in the region.
