Abraxas Catering Equipment are passionate about their green initiative and are committed to protecting the environment. Back in 2018 The company pledged to donate all money obtained through their scrap metal and redundant equipment recycling scheme to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity who they made their chosen charity for 2018.
Abraxas who specialise in the refurbishment of commercial kitchens and the replacement of old, broken, inefficient and redundant commercial kitchen equipment, dispose of several tons of scrap material each year. In line with their corporate responsibility and as part of their obligations under the WEE directive, waste transfer registration and to ensure compliant recycling, this scrap is taken to a registered waste recycling centre local to the company’s headquarters in Kidderminster. Not only does metal recycling support economic development and conserve natural resources, but it helps to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and atmospheric pollution. To celebrate 2018 as the company’s 20th year in business Abraxas chose to support the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and their tremendous lifesaving services, the team pledged to donate all the money received for the scrap waste to the charity in 2018.
Mike Nixon from Abraxas explained “On average we take around 700kg of steel, stainless steel and aluminium each month to the recycling centre. Kitchen refits invariably mean appliances that are beyond economical repair or need replacing with more energy efficient alternatives will need to be removed. Tabling, extraction canopies, ductwork, servery counters and sink units that are being modernised and upgraded will also need to be removed and recycled.” He adds, “We must all take an active role in recycling; it’s crucial to the future of our planet. Businesses have far more awareness of their carbon footprint and must take action to reduce their impact on the environment in whatever ways they can.”
Besides providing a full catering equipment design service, Abraxas have a wealth of experience in the installation of kitchen extraction systems, commercial kitchen refrigeration including coldrooms, commercial kitchen gas appliances and hygienic wall cladding systems. Abraxas’ qualified engineers can also install a wide range of commercial catering equipment including stainless steel worktops, sink benches, extraction systems, canopies, gas and electric stoves and ovens.
Abraxas were delighted to announce that their green #scrapforcash initiative has raised £866.69 for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in 2018 and along with the charity abseil, world cup sweep stake and #NationalHotChocolateDay donations Abraxas has raised £1,518.19 in the 12 months. Mike Nixon also said “Supporting the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in 2018 has been great fun and such a worthwhile thing to do, we have chosen to continue supporting them as our 2019 charity of the year with some great fundraising ideas planned”
