Over 40 people gathered at the Hereford Town Hall in April to mark 50 years since the establishment of the Herefordshire Health and Safety Group.
Bibbings MBE, the Group’s President, said: “Health safety has come a long way in fifty years, but sadly it has also come in for a lot of ridicule in the newspapers – in the last two decades especially. As all our daily lives have become much safer, it is too often forgotten that health and safety is one of the cornerstones of a civilised society. Day in and day out a lot of patient work is going on, mainly unseen and mainly in the background, making sure things go right and that they don’t go wrong and that people do not end up getting hurt.”
At the event four organisations which have been members of the Group since its foundation were presented with special certificates.
