Thomas Smith, Information Technology Support Technician at DRPG, is the proud winner of the 2019 Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year Award and encourages all apprentices to apply for the Awards.

He said: “It’s great to be acknowledged for the hard work I have put in over the duration of my apprenticeship, especially as I have come from originally doing a traineeship and worked my way from a Level 3 apprentice to completing a Level 4 apprenticeship in the IT industry. My role at DRPG has benefited me a lot as my questions and opinions are always taken on board, even when we have to make crucial decisions that will affect the rest of the team. The award hasn’t just benefited me, it’s benefited the company as well, as it showcases their successful apprenticeship programme and their commitment to developing young people’s careers by giving them an opportunity to work in a family feel environment within a global organisation.

“I would encourage apprentices to apply for the Awards because it’s a great opportunity to reflect on your achievements since starting the apprenticeship programme. For Worcestershire to take such a high interest in promoting apprenticeships through these Awards gives every apprentice the chance to showcase their abilities.”

This year’s Awards will mark the seventh year of the prestigious awards, having consistently attracted audiences of over 300 people. The glamorous Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 12 November 2020, at the Tree Tops Pavilion in West Midland Safari Park.
