Worcester Keeps Doors Open for Applicants Beyond UCAS Equal Consideration Date

The University of Worcester has reaffirmed its commitment to consider every application for all courses (except Medicine) made in January, even after the UCAS equal consideration date (ECD) which has just passed at midnight on January 14.

This guarantee applies even to Worcester’s very highly rated professional courses such as teacher training, paramedicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, adult, children’s, and mental health nursing. It does not apply to medicine as the national equal consideration date for medicine was October 15th.

Applications to study at Worcester increased by 14% last year; 10 times faster than the national average, and have increased again this year, but Worcester, in line with its longstanding commitment to widening participation, is making it clear that opportunities remain open for those ready to take the next step toward their future.

Professor David Green CBE DL, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Worcester, said: “A key reason that applications to Worcester have increased so rapidly is that our graduates are so very successful in securing sustained employment after graduation.”

He continued: “According to the Government’s official Longitudinal Educational Outcome statistics our graduates are top from all multi-faculty institutions in the UK,  This academic year the University of Worcester saw an increase of 14% in new students beginning their studies with us, considerably above the national average, and we’re already seeing even more growth on that for students starting this coming September.”

Professor Green added: “While the equal consideration date has now passed, we’d like to assure young people and more mature learners, particularly in the West Midlands and South West where participation in higher education is relatively low that you haven’t missed your chance to apply to study with us next year on a course which can truly help change your prospects for the better and help you make a really positive contribution to society.”

The University of Worcester has the highest rate of sustained employment, further study or both, for any multidisciplinary university in the UK, according to the Government’s own Longitudinal Education Outcomes data 2017-2025.

“The message from Worcester is clear:” said Professor Green. “If you aspire to be one of the nurses, midwives, teachers, scientists, artists, sports coaches or lawyers of the future, the door could still be open for you at the University of Worcester.”
