A special charity evening in Worcester has boosted fundraising efforts by a local recruitment firm as its staff prepare to take on the Three Peaks Challenge this month.
An amazing £2,070 was raised by the team from city jobs firm GMP Recruitment through an auction at the event which was held at wine merchants Bottles in Worcester’s Friar Street – helping to smash their £3,000 fundraising target for local children’s and disabilities charity, New Hope.
GMP Recruitment’s director and co-founder Mike Pincott, alongside colleagues James Cronin and Charlotte Harkin from GMP’s parent company, the Jarell Group, will climb the UK’s three highest mountains consecutively this month.
The gruelling challenge will see them tackling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – covering a total of 23 walking miles and climbing over 3,000 metres in 24 hours which will also see them driving a total distance of 462 miles between the Scottish, English and Welsh mountains.
Following the event, the trio have now raised over £5,000 for New Hope, which provides specialist day care for children with disabilities and complex healthcare needs – alongside much-needed respite for their parents and carers.
The charity is especially close the Mike’s heart as he recently found out his two-year-old daughter Ava has been diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome – a genetic disorder which causes delayed development, problems with speech, balance and seizures.
Mike Pincott said: “More than anything, we would like to thank the amazing team at Bottles for allowing us to take over the venue free of charge.
“The event has given a massive boost to our fundraising for New Hope and taken us way beyond the target we had set. To see so many people from across Worcester’s business community attending and supporting us was wonderful and our charity auction and entertainment was a big hit.
“Now it is onto the big challenge which lies ahead in the shape of the UK’s three biggest mountains. James, Charlotte and I have been training hard for what we know is going to be a tough 24 hours, but it will all be worthwhile to raise a great amount for a charity which does so much for so many families.”
