The Forum featured women from local and regional emergency services who were the subject of You Do Better’s annual International Women’s Day article, written by member Ruby Edwards.

Speakers Jo Hardwick, Tactical Incident Commander at West Midlands Ambulance Service, Michelle Hicks, Station Commander at Herefordshire & Worcestershire Fire & Rescue Service, and Elizabeth Warner, DCI at West Mercia Police, shared first-hand insights into careers in high-pressure, male-dominated environments. Their talks highlighted resilience, breaking stereotypes and stepping outside comfort zones.

Ruby, owner of the local pay-as-you-go marketing agency, was delighted to invite the speakers to the Forum. Ruby said: “It was a real privilege to bring together such inspiring women. Their stories remind us how important it is to challenge perceptions and support one another to break down barriers.”

Attendee, Gemma Bott, Social Value Lead at OCM said: “It was fascinating to hear first-hand experiences from women in such demanding professions. The talks were thought-provoking and genuinely inspiring. A great event.”
