Vamos Theatre, the UK’s leading full mask theatre company, has launched the Vamos Emerging Artists programme, designed to introduce young actors to the skills of performing in mask, and to discover the next generation of 18-24-year-old performers from diverse communities across the UK.
Over the last six months, the Arts Council England funded company has been running workshops to find the most exciting early-career mask actors in the UK. The programme culminates this week in a four-day residency where participants work with personal stories, special objects and the Vamos Theatre team to create a joyous, playful and touching public performance, Who is Next Door?
Honor Hoskins, Vamos Theatre’s Creative Producer commented, “Mask theatre is performed without words, so the young actors have been developing their physical theatre skills, learning to put across a story clearly and cleverly. They deserve a supportive audience and I’d encourage anyone who’s interested in different kinds of theatre to come and see it. This performance promises to be really special.”
The performance at the Swan Theatre, Worcester, is a Pay What you Feel event, and seats should be booked in advance where possible.
