The announcement comes at a crucial time for the town, following the news that Kerry Manufacturing, the largest employer in Tenbury Wells for the past 50 years, is set to close its factory in February 2026, which has left many in the local community concerned about job losses and economic impact.
Upper Teme Business Park owner, Amy Butterfield, along with Wayne Butterfield from Terrain Construction Group, recently hosted a productive meeting with Nick Jethwa, Partner at G Herbert Banks, Delia Yapp from Shropshire Council, Councillor Justin Bowen, Tenbury Division and Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Children & Families at Worcestershire County Council, Mike Forrester, Chair of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and Marion Rae and Lauren Silvey from Tenbury Wells Open For Business, to discuss a multi-channel approach to supporting local businesses and, at the same time, promoting the opportunities this new development presents.
Amy Butterfield, owner of Upper Teme Business Park, shared her thoughts on the current situation:
“The recent news from Kerry will undoubtedly have a significant knock-on effect on both local employment and the surrounding businesses.
