The UK government has published a series of tax documents and consultations related to creating ‘a more trusted, simple and modern tax system’.
The consultation announcements and policy paper released on tax day include:
- Consultation on aviation tax reform – seeks views on reforms to Air Passenger Duty
- Responses to consultation on a Carbon Emissions Tax – summary of responses about how, if introduced, a Carbon Emissions Tax would operate and on proposals for development of the tax.
- Interim business rates review report – a summary of consultation responses, rather than the government’s position.
- Call for evidence on our Tax Administration Framework – exploring how to make tax more straightforward and harder to get wrong.
- Call for evidence on Timely Payment – exploring the longer-term opportunities and challenges of more frequent payment of income tax within Income Tax Self-Assessment and of corporation tax for small companies.
