The award-winning clinical negligence team at a Herefordshire law firm has been boosted by the addition of two newly-qualified solicitors.
Amber Pinnell and Rachael Matthews will both be working with clients across Herefordshire and beyond, with Rachael based in Ludlow and Amber in Hereford.
Amber adds to an expanding team of clinical negligence specialists at the firm’s Hereford office, after gaining valuable experience since joining Lanyon Bowdler as a legal assistant in January 2017.
She studied Law and Criminology at Cardiff University, and began studying for her legal practice course whilst continuing to work at Lanyon Bowdler, graduating in July 2019 with a distinction.
In September 2019, Amber became a trainee solicitor and gained experience in various teams including clinical negligence, personal injury and employment, before qualifying as a solicitor in March 2021.
She said: “I am delighted to be working here in my home county of Herefordshire, and have received a great deal of support from Lanyon Bowdler during my training contract.
“I am looking forward to continuing to gain experience in clinical negligence by assisting on a wide range of high value claims including birth injuries, cerebral palsy and amputations. I also hope to develop my own caseload in time.”
Rachael Matthews, who has worked in commercial property and employment law as part of her training contract, joined Lanyon Bowdler in September 2019. She completed the legal practice course at the University of Law in Birmingham and qualified as a solicitor in April 2021, joining the clinical negligence team based in the firm’s Ludlow office.
Rachael said: “I am excited to continue my career within the clinical negligence department at Lanyon Bowdler.
“The majority of my workload involves maternity claims, including birth injuries, neonatal deaths and stillbirths. The training contract at Lanyon Bowdler has allowed me to experience a range of areas of law prior to making the decision to specialise in clinical negligence.
“I am grateful to be part of such an experienced team who value client care at the heart of everything they do.”
Lucy Small, who leads Lanyon Bowdler’s clinical negligence team in South Shropshire and Herefordshire, said Amber and Rachael were both promising solicitors with great careers ahead of them: “We are proud of our training programme here at Lanyon Bowdler and it is always inspiring to see young solicitors flourishing with the firm,” she said.
“Amber and Rachael are already proving to be great assets to the team and will assist clients in a wide variety of cases both now and in the future.”
