Two counties remain Open for Business

This past week has presented challenging times for businesses across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

With the aftermath of both Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis, causing the River Teme and Severn to flood and presenting a danger to life, the two counties have faced major disruption to roads, transport and business with many people believing that Herefordshire and Worcestershire is ‘closed for business’, companies have seen this perception affect bookings and overall visitors to their premises. This is not the case and many businesses are still open and welcoming customers.

Previously in the aftermath of major weather disruptions to business, there has been funding released from government which can help ease the financial burden placed on businesses during this time.

The Herefordshire Community Foundation and the Hereford Times have launched a flood appeal fund to support victims of the recent floods caused by Storm Dennis. Applications should be made online at www.herefordshirecf.org. For further information please contact Philippa Spens on 01432272550 or 07850979026.

The Chamber will be keeping a look out for any further news around Herefordshire and Worcestershire and will be sure to keep all businesses updated.

Many businesses have seen staff not able to get into work because of road closures etc, The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce would like to extend our premises for all Members affected, if you require any desk space, meeting rooms or any further support please do get in touch and we will see if we can help.

We would urge all businesses to stress the point that Herefordshire and Worcestershire are in fact ‘open for business’ in the modern-day era it is easier than ever to update your customers and the general public on social media of your situation.
