As the saying goes: ”you never stop learning” and never more so than within the industry as medallists, insignia and badge-makers.
Over the past 47 years, Selcraft’s order books have been filled with an enormous diversity of crests, logos, fonts, languages and other identities from home and abroad to be converted into one of their many products: https://www.selcraft.com/products/
A recent special commission was the design and reproduction of the Isle of Man crest; otherwise known as a “Triskelion”. The design is composed of three armoured legs with golden spurs.
The design shown is truly historic and the Selcraft team were instructed by our client to reproduce the Triskelion alone, within a 13mm diameter badge, with the added effect of a slight dome rather than a basic flat badge. The design is die-struck from copper alloy with the highlights hand polished upon a textured background and electroplated in chrome.
The Triskelion was officially adopted by the Isle of Man on 1st December 1932 but is derived from the original Manx coat of arms which dates back to the 13th Century. Many of Selcraft’s products featuring heraldry are steeped in history and meaning, so lend themselves – when allied to their standard setting design skills – to conversion into superb metal based items.
