The Cottage in the Wood Malvern in partnership with Clare Knivett introduces The Power of Nature package for those looking to reconnect with the natural world
The Cottage in the Wood Malvern is not really a cottage in the wood, but a hotel on the hill – located in a dramatic landscape filled with dense woods, sprawling hills and sweeping views of the Severn Valley. Perfectly located for those looking to reconnect with the natural world, the hotel has teamed up with food writer, cook and forager Clare Knivett to offer her Power of Nature two-hour guided tours of the surrounding landscape.
Taking techniques from Japanese forest bathing and combining them with plant identification and seasonal foraging, the two-hour experience amongst the trees is about breathing in the natural surroundings, learning the benefits of spending more time in nature and identifying wild plants, fruits, flowers and trees.
Clare includes an introduction to forest bathing covering grounding, breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as seasonal wild plant identification, focusing on which plants can harm or heal, with tips on how to use wild plants for food, health and beauty, as well as cooking. The experience is followed up with recipes, book recommendations and tips tailored to individual interests.
“Spending time in the great outdoors has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, help find clarity, and rejuvenate mind and body,” says Clare. “I have been working with food all my life, and I have a passion for the natural world and my Power of Nature guided walks are all about connecting the two, providing a way to fully engage with the seasons and our incredible surroundings.”
