A forward-thinking Worcestershire business has been appointed to a scheme championing inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.
Access management specialists The Key Safe Company have been enrolled to the INclusivity Worcestershire Leaders initiative coordinated by Worcestershire Growth Hub.
Key Safe was recognised for consistently striving for excellence and best practice and for acting as a role model for other organisations in a bid to create ‘a better Worcestershire for tomorrow’s workforce’.
Businesses that belong to the scheme benefit from promotional and marketing activity and the opportunity to attend and speak at local events.
Based just outside Worcester, Key Safe was previously involved in a county council scheme offering service users and vulnerable adults paid training placements to support their personal development.
And the company regularly organises events to raise awareness of causes such as Neurodiversity Week, Disability Pride, World Alzheimer’s day, ADHD awareness month and World Mental Health day.
Managing Director Marcus Taylor said: “Being inducted into this scheme is recognition of just how much importance we attach to diversity, equality and inclusivity in the workplace.
“Everyone in society should have the same opportunities in life and in business and I’m so pleased that everyone at Key Safe feels that way.
“We regularly hold events to coincide with national and international awareness days as well as fundraisers for local charities that do amazing work supporting the most vulnerable and needy in society.
“We will continue our commitment to DEI as a business and look forward to having an involvement in future events under the INclusivity banner.”
The Leaders initiative supports the Disability Confident Employer Scheme and Supported Internships, a structured work-based study programme for 16-24-year-olds with Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities (SEND) who have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
It also promotes the Care Leavers Covenant, which supports care leavers aged 16 to 25 and guides them into the world of work, and the Accessible Apprenticeship programme for people with additional learning needs and disabilities.
Key Safe representatives will be presented with an award at a special INclusive Worcestershire Leaders Breakfast at Sixways Stadium in October.
The company will also be invited to attend forums to discuss SEND topics and the direction business leaders in the county should move in.
As members of the Leaders project, Key Safe will be recommended to education providers for various work placements, employment talks, events and visits.
Quarterly catch-ups will be arranged to support the company on its Leaders journey and an annual review will be held next summer to ensure the business is still compliant in all aspects.
