Kickstart Scheme a Success for over 600 Young People

Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce have been working with Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership to deliver over 600 Kickstart jobs since 2020.

The scheme, launched by the UK Government in 2020 as part of their Plan for Jobs programme, aims to support young people aged 16-24 on Universal Credit to get into work by providing them with 6 month work placements to boost their experience and training.

Now, 600 Kickstart jobs have been offered supporting young people in the local area to access work skills and experiences. On top of these opportunities, each and every young person who was part of the scheme has been offered additional advice to ensure the longevity of these experiences, and some have even continued into apprenticeships and full-time employment.

Over 190 local employers have been involved in this scheme.
