Staff at Spire South Bank Hospital in Worcester have nominated two local charities to support in 2021.
Virtual fundraising events are being organised to help Onside Advocacy and the Worcester Street Café during the Covid lockdown but it is hoped some real-life challenges will be possible once things gets back to normal.
ONSIDE Advocacy provides skilled advocates to offer guidance and support during a variety of difficult processes – giving disadvantaged people a voice when they come face-to-face with these situations.
Worcester Street Café offer homeless and under-privileged people hot drinks, cooked meals and sandwiches partially supplied by Greggs who donate unsold stock, and other businesses and members of the community. They also distribute warm clothing as well as offering help and advice to its users.
Hospital Director, Dawn Pickrell said:
“This year’s charities were selected by people working at the hospital. They were chosen because of the fantastic work they do in the city and we are both proud and delighted to be supporting them this year.”
In 2019 and 2020 the hospital raised over £6,000 for Worcester Snoezelen, which helps people with learning disabilities, and Magg’s Day Centre for the homeless.
