Whilst the return to work is well underway, organisations are learning the productivity, real-estate costs and H&S benefits of a hybrid WFH/office regime, enabled by digitisation. What may not be so apparent are the increased risks of cyber-attack and fraud endemic with digitisation – all eminently risk-manageable in the realisation that the benefits of digitisation outweigh such risks.
Organisations need to focus on doing the ‘little things’ well, keeping software patched, updating security software regularly, training staff to recognise phishing emails, taking regular backups (offline from the Internet in case of ransomware attack) and monitoring for signs of nefarious activity on IT systems; remember: ‘perfection is not about doing extraordinary things but doing ordinary things extraordinarily well’.
