OFWAT (water regulator) issued a “code change” (ruling) on 27/3 that water suppliers should not charge for water use at a site closed due to government edict (e.g. a café) during the closure period. This edict is supposed to take effect from 30/3/30. Once closed, the site will be billed up to the date of closure and will be billed again once site re-opens.
If you have to temporarily close your business site, you need to report it to Waterplus here who should send a reply within 1-2 working days.
OFWAT water regulator have quoted on the ruling about temporarily closed sites: “Where a Retailer identifies a premises to be a Vacant Premises under CSD 0104 section 3.1.6, the Retailer should obtain proof of vacancy.”
Make sure you update your organisation website to show that you are closed with the date of closure or take photographs of a notice on your front door showing that your premises are closed due to Covid-19 and date of closure.
