Every year RLSS UK delivers in the region of 350,000 awards to train people how to be safe in, on and around water. This includes community lifesavers and vocational lifeguards. This figure includes around 50,000 awards to children under the age of 16.
With the incredible support of the Chamber members we would be able to extend this offer, specifically to young people who cannot not afford to access lifesaving training. Training as a professional lifesaver does cost money and we are attempting to remove financial barriers so that this lifesaving opportunity is available to every young person.
We plan to set up a hardship fund to support young people and families who due to the cost of living crisis cannot fund lifesaving training. This will be managed and governed through our lifesaving clubs.
