A bit about us – ONSIDE Advocacy is a charity that was established in 1993 (this year we are celebrating our 30th birthday) and our wonderful charity stems from a belief that everyone has the right to be a valued human being and to be treated in a just and fair manner. We currently work across Worcestershire and Herefordshire, providing a wide range of support services to ensure fairness and equality for all members of our community who may be vulnerable, disadvantaged or discriminated against. We support around 9,000 people within local communities every year helping them with their wellbeing, mental health, giving them a voice and combatting loneliness and isolation. We offer many more services, which we can provide more details of – essentially we are here to support local people in need across the two counties. Throughout the pandemic we had a large number of volunteers, but since things “started to go back to normal” we have lost many of them as people have been keen to work from home, which does suit some volunteer roles, but not all of them. In addition, the recent ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ has affected our volunteer numbers even more, with people needing to earn money in a paid role. We are looking to recruit as many volunteers as we can throughout 2024!
