We are in need for a Treasurer for our charity.
As a small organisation your knowledge and support will make a real impact on what we can achieve locally on the ground and the long-term success and sustainability of the charity.
Behind the Smile Charity has been set up in memory of our son who took his life after a period of poor mental health, we couldn’t find support for Zac when he needed it the most. When Zac unfortunately ended his life there was no support for us, or any help and explanation through the traumatic, complex experience. Our charity is trying to address these two main issues in Zacs memory and through lots of research we have various ideas how we can go about setting up a sustainable service.
We facilitate support for those with poor mental health and those bereaved by suicide.
Duties and responsibilities of Treasurer:
● Present financial reports to the board in a format that helps the board understand the charity’s financial position.
● Advise the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities.
● Work with professional advisors, overseeing the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts.
● Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes to the public benefit.
● Ensure the board fulfils their duties and responsibilities for effective charity governance in line with Behind the Smile policies and the requirements of the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
● Support and advocate for the Charity’s mission, vision, and values.
Idealy we would prefer someone local, but not essential.
