Throughout the company’s history, Selcraft UK’s strategic and collaborative alliances with our diverse customer base have yielded many positive results. These partnerships have propagated long-lasting relationships with organisations including The Armed Forces, Military Colleges and the Combined Cadet Forces and, a project such as the badges shown, demonstrate that a unified approach – by both supplier and customer – deliver the best possible outcome; as both parties have a vested interest to succeed.
Selcraft offered ideas and relevant products to their client – of over 30 years standing – who then commissioned the team to design and produce a range of badges; not an ordinary badge, but a jewellery-like item of exceptional quality, requiring highly skilled production technology. Each item within the multi-part construction is die-stamped, which is acknowledged as the best method for reproducing fine detailing. Each piece is then enamelled and polished by hand, with the central crown in relief metal style and finished in satin gold electroplate.
The range is highly patriotic to those who have served, both past and present in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and also of considerable sentimental value to the wearer. Indeed, each piece features the Union Jack and Regal Crown but is also personalised in two ways; firstly the opposing flag depicts one of the three services or a specific regiment and, secondly, the plain scroll bar below can be inscribed with the recipients rank, service number, years of service or any other pertinent details. Its versatility in messaging also makes it a unique piece.
Initially the range had 6 designs which quickly moved to 12 and currently stands at 15; it is hoped that, by demand, more versions will follow. The items shown are the versions for The Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force and the other designs will be showcased by Selcraft UK in the coming weeks.
