Parenting Apart Programme Community Interest Company is celebrating after being awarded almost £30,000 from The National Lottery Coronavirus Community Fund to support families who are going through conflict, divorce or separation. The Community Interest Company, based in Worcestershire will use the money to offer the families the initial 4-week Parenting Apart Programme that has been specifically designed to support parents through communication to prioritise the emotional needs of their children
Parenting Apart Programme Community Interest Company has been running since 2018 and is staffed by 6 Social Care Family consultants. It was founded by Claire Field after she realised that in order to really help children through family breakdown, we need to help the parents and most importantly help them to prioritise the emotional needs of their children through significant change.
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will see and benefit up to 50-60 families being able to access the resource of the initial 4-week Parenting Apart Programme. This increases the better outcomes for children when parents are going through conflict, divorce or separation.
Claire Field, founder of Parenting Apart Programme Community Interest Company, says: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work in this way. Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to support families who are not able to self-fund this resource normally, especially through these very difficult and scary times with dealing with COVID-19. We know that this has put huge amounts of pressure and stress on families which then can cause parental conflict and this has a huge impact emotionally on children. For parents to be able to access the programme, we can definitely be supporting better outcomes for the children involved. If the parents are ok, the children will be fine”.
Tony McDaid, Chief Executive & Director of Clerking at No5 Barristers’ Chambers, says: “We are delighted to hear that The Parenting Apart Programme has secured this funding, it will make a real difference for both parents and children during this very difficult time with COVID-19.
