Community Power has announced a new partnership with Oakchurch Farm Shop that will help provide fresh produce for thousands of meals at Lee’s Place, the charity’s hot food hub supporting people experiencing homelessness in Herefordshire.
Lee’s Place, located in Hereford, operates as a hot food hub offering free, home-cooked meals, essential supplies and a welcoming space for people experiencing homelessness. Open seven evenings a week, the service is powered by volunteers and community generosity.
Thanks to the generous support of Oakchurch Farm Shop owner Nick Price, Lee’s Place will now receive fresh produce for the next 12 months to support the meals prepared for guests. The donation is expected to contribute towards approximately 150 meals each week, the equivalent of around 7,500 meals across the year.
Kerry Gibson-Yates, Communications Officer at Community Power, said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled. This is an incredible donation which we are truly appreciative of. The team at Oakchurch have been amazing, working closely with us to bring this partnership to fruition.”
The support from Oakchurch will not only help ensure a more balanced and nutritious menu for our homeless guests at Lee’s Place but also sends a powerful message that local businesses care deeply about the wellbeing of their community.
Oakchurch Farm Shop is a family-run farm shop and garden centre set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside. Established in 1970, it has long championed local farmers, growers and food and drink producers, and has received numerous accolades including Retailer of the Year most recently at the Visit Herefordshire Awards.
This partnership reflects the power of collaboration between the voluntary sector and local business, demonstrating how community spirit and shared values can make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
