Cherington HR reflects on Chamber Business Award success.

1.     Why did your business apply to the Chamber Business Awards 2017?
I joined the Chamber back in 2006 when I set up Cherington HR Ltd and have entered the Awards a few times – getting to the finals on three occasions in the: New Business; Excellence in Customer Service; and most recently in the Excellence in Professional Services category.  Being a very small business I know that there is some stiff competition, but for me, the kudos from being recognised as a finalist is very valuable when I am competing for business with other HR consultancies.
2.     How did you find the application process?
The process was straightforward with an application form to complete followed by a probing telephone panel interview.  It made me think a lot about Cherington HR and what I had achieved over the previous 11 years so was a really useful exercise that helped me with my strategic planning for the business.
3.     What advice would you give to businesses wanting to apply?
Reflect on what you have achieved and make sure you answer the questions!
4.     What are the benefits you have received from being a finalist in the Chamber Business Awards?
Although I didn’t win, just being a finalist has raised the profile and status of Cherington HR within Herefordshire and Worcestershire.  I had a stand at the recent Chamber Expo in Malvern and was able to build on my finalist status to generate some very useful contacts with potential clients.  Being able to show that Cherington HR has been recognised as being one of the best businesses in the two counties for delivering excellence in both Customer Service and Professional Services is a very strong selling point.
