A brand new walking and cycling bridge was lifted into place earlier this month over a section of Worcester’s Southern Link Road.

The bridge, which replaces the current pedestrian crossing, now sits proudly over Hams Way and once complete, will allow improved crossing of this busy road for pedestrians and cyclists.

The bridge was built offsite and was carefully manoeuvred into place on Saturday 12 September. Following the successful completion of the move, Hams Way was fully reopened, ahead of schedule.

The bridge is one of four new crossings being installed as part of the scheme to dual the A4440 Southern Link Road from the M5 to Powick roundabout.

These crossings include Crookbarrow Way Footbridge, which has been extremely well used since opening earlier this year, Broomhall Way Footbridge which is currently under construction, and a new underpass near the Ketch roundabout and this Hams Way Footbridge near the Powick roundabout.
