New People in Business event launched in Hereford

One of the leading lights of Hereford’s university presence will be speaking at the first People in Business networking event being held by a leading law firm in the city.

Samantha Lewis will be talking about her extensive career at the free event at Lanyon Bowdler’s offices in Bath Street on Thursday, June 26, and anyone wishing to attend can book now.
Samantha is director of people and operations at the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) in Hereford and also serves as Chair of the Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre (HVSC).

People in Business networking dates were launched by Lanyon Bowdler at the firm’s offices in Oswestry last year and then extended to Telford earlier this year after proving to be hugely successful. A decision has now been taken to expand the idea still further by taking it to Hereford.

Philippa Pearson, of Lanyon Bowdler’s Hereford office, said: “We are delighted to be bringing People in Business to Hereford – it will be our first in the city and we are urging people to book their free place now as there is likely to be a lot of interest.

“It takes place between 1pm and 2.30pm at our Bath Street offices on June 26 and there will be the opportunity to network and listen to our special guest Samantha Lewis, who will be giving an outline of her career and sharing NMITE’s journey to achieving the gold award via the AFC Employer Recognition Scheme.

“She will also be providing an insight into the valuable work being carried out by the Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre.

“Samantha has amassed a wealth of experience in higher education and corporate environments. She is skilled in aligning HR strategy with organisational goals, fostering a culture of inclusivity and growth, and leading strategic business planning, and has a strong track record in income generation, change management, employee relations, and cultural transformation.

“As Chair of the HVSC and the daughter of a veteran, Samantha understands the difficulties some veterans face when they leave the military, and is passionate about providing different levels of support that may be required, using her network extensively to deliver collaboration and community engagement to support veterans and their families.

“Sam’s passion for the veteran agenda and the Armed Forces Covenant as a whole is infectious and demonstrates the value she has as an advocate for the Armed Forces Covenant in and around Herefordshire.”
