Herefordshire Council and partners have launched a new Invest in Herefordshire service and website to attract business investment, support growth and create better-paid jobs in the county.
With a £3.6 billion economy, more than 10,600 active businesses and a self-employment rate above the national average, Herefordshire offers a strong environment for enterprise and innovation.
To showcase these opportunities, a new Invest in Herefordshire promotional video has been released, highlighting the county’s strengths, key sectors and quality of life for investors and skilled workers.
In the video, local business leaders and partners share why Herefordshire is a great place to do business:
Jon Melton, from Hereford-based Momentum Pharma, says:
“We have worked in 46 countries to date but living here has really supported that. We still have good access to the airport, we still have good access to London. It’s allowed us to expand our company easier with much more control.”
James Newby, President and Chief Executive of NMITE, says:
“I think Herefordshire is a really special place to set up and do business. I think of it as a place where innovation meets quality of life.”
Darryl Hinkmans, Head of Business Development at Westons Cider, says:
“The location is fantastic. People love coming here. They love to live and work here. The property market offers relatively good value compared to other parts of the country. Great schools and good medical facilities.”
The new website, investinherefordshire.co.uk, provides a clear gateway for businesses looking to relocate, expand or invest. It brings together information on opportunities, sectors, premises and support, helping investors quickly understand what Herefordshire has to offer.
The site highlights:
- Why Herefordshire – the county’s strengths, assets and quality of life
- Key sectors – including manufacturing, defence, cyber, agri-tech and food
- Premises and development opportunities – space to grow and invest
- Case studies – showcasing businesses already thriving in the county
The launch follows Invest in Herefordshire’s presence at the Specialist Defence and Security Convention (SDSC-UK), where the county was promoted as a growing centre for defence and cyber industries, working alongside local businesses and the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE).
Herefordshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Growth, Cllr Graham Biggs, said:
“Invest in Herefordshire is a major step forward in how we present the county to investors.
This website and video give businesses a clear, professional gateway to understand the opportunities here, the support available and the quality of life we can offer.
Attracting new investment is key to creating skilled jobs and strengthening our local economy, and this platform will help us do that.”
The Invest in Herefordshire service will continue to support businesses with advice on locations, planning, skills, funding and partnerships, helping investors navigate the process of establishing or expanding in the county.
