A brand new business has launched in Worcestershire with a solution for improving staff wellbeing and boosting the mental health of the nation!
Smile Box brings together a bespoke collection of self-care products and mental health resources in a Gift Box that employers can give to their staff. The makers believe this is especially important after the challenges and mental toll caused by the Global Pandemic over the last 18 months.
The Bromsgrove business feels that through meaningful rewards like Smile Box, employers should see an increase in staff morale, productivity and a reduction in sickness levels and stress. Last year employee investment in corporate gifting increased by 44%1 and Smile Box predict that this trend will continue as employers recognise the benefits of taking good care of their staff.
Donna Fisher, who founded Smile Box, is also a NLP Coach with a special interest in mindfulness and positivity. Donna reports there has been a surge in demand for her boxes following May’s Mental Health Awareness Week, with business owners wanting to help improve staff wellbeing. This follows reports that last year 15.9 million days were lost to sickness absence in the UK due to stress, depression, anxiety and other mental health problems.2 The entrepreneur also wants to do her bit for the environment and has pledged that for every 1,000 boxes sold, Smile Box will plant a tree.
Donna said, “It has been a dream come true to launch Smile Box this year and see the positive impact it’s having on people. Smile Box offers an affordable and effective solution to improving the wellbeing of employees, and I hope we can help many businesses in the local area to deliver some happiness to their teams!
“The concept of Smile Box is simple. It is a personalized box filled with feel-good treats to make your staff smile! Each item has been chosen to improve wellbeing, promote self-care and make the recipient feel truly valued.”
“I’m passionate about the need for a national shift in mental health awareness. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England3 and that’s got to change. We need to remove the stigma around mental health by normalising conversations and it would be great to see employers driving that change by investing in their employees’ wellbeing. When staff feel valued and appreciated they are happier, more loyal and more productive – so it benefits everyone.”
The Smile Boxes contain mindfulness resources to support mental health and offer signposting for those who might be struggling. The products are sourced ethically and sustainably where possible, and include vegan, cruelty free and natural products. The boxes can be customised to each business with personalisation and gift-wrapping.
Smile Box are launching a monthly subscription box for consumers in August, from £12.95 per month. Donna adds, “Our new subscription offering will ensure a monthly delivery of smiles. Investing in self-care is vital for looking after our own mental health.” Smile Box will also be opening a retail unit in Worcestershire where customers can create their own Smile Boxes for loved ones.
